DPS 'Buffer Puffer 11.0' Scenario Pack Introduction This scenario pack comprises of eight scenarios, based over three routes which are WCML Trent Valley, South London Network and North London Line & Goblin Extension. This scenario pack is designed to faithfully replicate the Pathfinder Tours 'Buffer Puffer 11.0' railtour which took place on 25th January 2014. Using top and tailed DRS Class 37 locomotives and mk1 coaching stock, the scenarios offer varying and challenging operations and gives over 5 hours of driving on these routes along with varied AI and plenty of interaction with other services to keep you on your toes. All scenarios have been tested multiple times at service/line speeds and all have been completed with all AI interaction working correctly. Due to the nature of the program and for reasons that often cannot be explained, some users may not get the same results. Important Notes This scenario pack uses the Steam version of the Wherry Lines: Norwich to Great Yarmouth route in order to utilise the excellent Class 37 contained within it. This scenario pack will not work with the version available direct from Armstrong Powerhouse and furthermore, I do not own that version so cannot provide alternative files to utilise that pack. That said, the only services that use the Class 37 in all eight scenarios are that of your driven train, so I imagine they can be swapped out with little hassle. Please note that this is done at your own risk. Due to this scenario pack featuring a railtour, and therefore regarded as a low priority service, all scenarios can often be fairly slow going and you are unlikely to travel long distances in a hurry. If you prefer a quicker run or dislike the stop/start nature of this type of service, this scenario pack is probably not for you. I have tried to stay faithful to the timings on this leg of the original tour that ran on 25th January 2014. You will therefore find yourself waiting time at stations along your route. Although 37405 did run on this particular railtour, 37425 has had to substitute for 37610. The 'Riviera Line in the Fifties' was chosen for the chocolate and cream coaching stock. Although steam heated, they were specifically chosen because the route was part of the TS2016 package and is likely to be owned by more users than any individual DLC that has similar coaches. Although the pack is set in January 2014, a spring setting has been chosen because to replicate the weather conditions of that day, selecting winter would show permanent snow on the ground. However, due to the appearance of foliage in a spring setting on South London Network that I am unhappy with, several of the scenarios on that route have been switched to a summer setting. In parts 3 and 4 which end and start at London Bridge, you may suffer from a long standing issue on the South London Network whereby the scenario will crash. This may manifest itself in a crash on part 3 should you approach the buffers too closely at the end of the scenario, and also may manifest itself at the start of part 4. Although there was apparently a fix issued for the route and I no longer see the issue myself, a report was raised on the Steam Workshop version of these scenarios where it happened for another user. The advice given was to turn the graphical settings down for these two scenarios, the user was then able to complete them both successfully. Likewise, by the very busy nature of traffic on the South London Network, the sheer amount of AI traffic could cause a scenario crash depending on your system specifications. The same advice is given, to turn down graphical settings for any particular scenario that causes an issue. Please also take the time to read the descriptive page for each scenario below, some scenarios may have particular notes related to that specific scenario. Installation If you have downloaded this pack and are already reading this, there is a good chance you have already installed the scenarios because you have already unpackaged the .rar format and revealed the .rwp. If you are still struggling, the included .rwp can be installed using the Package Manager which can be found by using "Utilities.exe" which is located in your Steam \steamapps\common\railworks directory. Alternatively, archiving programs such as WinRar or 7-Zip can open the .rwp file and the scenarios can manually be placed in your TS2017 installation. Please note that if you are uncomfortable with moving these files manually, I take no responsibility for any damage you may cause to your install if the process is not done correctly. Official installation instructions can also be found via the user manuals, located in your install at Steam\steamapps\common\railworks\Manuals After installation is complete, the scenarios should then be viewable in the scenario editor via the Standard Scenarios option and will be located within the list for the three routes noted on the first page. In the case of this scenario pack, all scenarios are prefixed with [DPS], are named 'The Buffer Puffer 11.0' and numbered 1 to 8. Scenario Overview A separate scenario page is included in this document each scenario, these can be found by scrolling down. These outline all of the details needed for each scenario including scenario information, description, briefing, requirements and any notes relevant for that particular scenario. Requirements The following stock used has been chosen to try and replicate the correct workings, where possible, from the day of the railtour. Although the list of required payware is quite extensive, a large proportion of users generally have many of the popular items listed below and I make no apology for the use of these items in order to be as realistic as possible. All scenario packs from DPSimulation are designed to add further enjoyment to what you have already purchased, however, if you don't own some of the items then please note that RWTools offers a facility to 'swap out' any items that you don't have meaning that these scenario packs should be accessible to all in some form. If you do swap out items, you do so at your own risk and DPSimulation cannot be held responsible for the any scenario not working as originally intended because of this process. The requirements on this page depict what is required for all scenarios included in the pack. Because the scenario pack takes place on three different routes, each scenario has their own set of requirements. On the page for each scenario further down this document, requirements are listed for each scenario separately. You will drive the section from London Bridge to West Croydon. Briefing Starting at London Bridge, you are currently awaiting your path. You will drive the section initially from East Croydon to Stewarts Lane via Clapham Junction, then on to the circular route via Brixton, Herne Hill and Streatham Hill before arriving back at Clapham Junction. Briefing Starting at East Croydon, you are currently awaiting your path. Once the signal clears, proceed to Stewarts Lane via Clapham Junction before changing ends and travelling back to Clapham Junction via Herne Hill and Streatham Hill. Notes Due to you covering the same area on the route twice, this makes the AI interaction very complicated to create. It is imperative that you arrive at the reversing point at Stewarts Lane at on or very close to 18:50. This should mean that any subsequent AI interaction works as intended. If you fail to meet this time, i'm unsure as to how the dispatcher will handle this interaction. Also, due to covering many parts of the route in one scenario, this has resulted in more scenario requirements than seen in previous parts of this scenario series. Requirements South London Network Wherry Lines: Norwich to Great Yarmouth (Steam Version) Chatham Main Line - London to Gillingham London to Brighton Riviera Line in the Fifties – Exeter to Kingswear (For Coaching Stock) Class 319 'First Capital Connect' EMU Pack Class 378 'London Overground' EMU Pack (Also included with North London Line) Class 442 'Gatwick Express' EMU Pack Class 455 EMU Pack Class 455/8 'Southern' EMU Pack [DPS] The Buffer Puffer 11.0 Part 7 Difficulty: Easy Length: 20 Minutes Approx Start Time: 19:28 Description This evening you are in charge of another leg of the Buffer Puffer 11.0 railtour using a pair of DRS Class 37 locomotives and mk1 coaching stock. As it is now getting late, traffic is winding down and no delays are expected, however, please adhere to the maximum speed of your service which is 75mph. Also take care when approaching any red signals to avoid a TPWS emergency brake activation, it's dark out there and it can be hard to judge!
