DPS_SP10 Introduction This scenario pack comprises of six scenarios, all based on the 'West Coast Main Line: Over Shap' route available from Steam. Set in 2014, the pack covers the Class 350 EMU, Class 156 and Class 170 deputising for the Class 185. The scenarios offer varying and challenging operations and give around five hours of further driving on this fantastic route along with varied AI and plenty of interaction with other services to keep you on your toes. Created using real timetables where appropriate, this scenario pack features the following in order to give an engaging and realistic experience. Prototypical consists Prototypical passing AI Adverse Signals & AI Interaction Utilises repaints created specifically for this pack Several repaints recently released on DPSimulation were also created specifically for this pack and as ever, are completely free and standalone from this scenario pack and are available to download now. Installation If you have downloaded this pack and are already reading this, there is a good chance you have already installed the scenarios because you have already unpackaged the .rar format and revealed the .rwp. If you are still struggling, the included .rwp can be installed using the Package Manager which can be found by using "Utilities.exe" which is located in your Steam \steamapps\common\railworks directory. Alternatively, archiving programs such as WinRar or 7- Zip can open the .rwp file and the scenarios can manually be placed in your TS2015 installation. Please note that if you are uncomfortable with moving these files manually, I take no responsibility for any damage you may cause to your install if the process is not done correctly. Official installation instructions can also be found via the user manuals, located in your install at Steam\steamapps\common\railworks\Manuals After installation is complete, the scenarios should then be viewable in the scenario editor via the Single Player/Standard Scenarios option and will be located within the list for the 'WCML Over Shap' route. In the case of this scenario pack, all scenarios are prefixed with [DPS-SP10_XX] and numbered accordingly from 1 through to 6. Scenario Overview [DPS-SP10_01] '1S32 - 0558 Manchester Airport to Edinburgh' – FTPE Class 350 (4 Car) Difficulty: Easy Length: 75 Minutes Start Time: 06:56 Description This morning you will be driving a First Transpennine Express Class 350 EMU on a service from Manchester Airport to Edinburgh, driving the leg between Preston and Carlisle. Early morning traffic is fairly light and no delays are anticipated. Briefing Starting at Preston, first release the doors to allow passengers to board before preparing your train for departure at 06:58. You will then call at Lancaster, Oxenholme, Penrith and finally Carlisle. Notes Although the Class 350/4 has a top speed of 110mph, this path is currently timed for 100mph only. You do have permission to travel at 110mph where the linespeed permits, should you need to recover lost time. [DPS-SP10_02] '2Y57 - 1317 Heysham Harbour to Leeds' – Northern Class 156 (2 Car) Difficulty: Easy Length: 35 Minutes Start Time: 13:20 Description This afternoon you are in charge of a Northern Rail service between Heysham Harbour and Leeds, driving the leg between Heysham Harbour and Carnforth. Due to mechanical issues, the booked Class 150 has been replaced by a Class 156 for the foreseeable future. Briefing Starting at Heysham Harbour, first release the doors to allow passengers to board before preparing your train for departure. Having arrived late on the inbound journey, you will be departing around 4 minutes late but should have no problem making this time up due to the turnaround at Morecambe. Notes Although the train depicted is intended to be numbered as 156481, the rear car has been numbered as 156491. This is due to the numbering system on the model itself, whereby if two identical numbers are added for each car, problems arise with door opening and the guard buzzer. [DPS-SP10_03] '1C53 - 1254 Windermere to Barrow-in-Furness' – FTPE Class 170 (185) Difficulty: Medium Length: 35 Minutes Start Time: 13:11 Description In charge of a First Transpennine Express service from Windermere to Barrow-in-Furness, you will take charge of the train at Oxenholme. Due to earlier signalling issues in the area, there are still some late running services that could cause problems. Briefing Starting at Oxenholme, first release the doors to allow passengers to board before preparing your train for departure at 13:12. You will then be calling at Lancaster where you will change ends before proceeding to Carnforth where you will be relieved. [DPS-SP10_04] '1C76 - 1714 Manchester Oxford Road to Windermere' - FTPE Class 170 (185) Difficulty: Easy Length: 35 Minutes Start Time: 18:01 Description This evening you will be driving a First Transpennine Express service from Manchester Oxford Road to Windermere, driving the leg between Preston and Oxenholme. The rush is starting to abate and no delays are expected. Briefing Starting at Preston, first release the doors to allow passengers to board before preparing your train for departure. You will then call at Lancaster and Oxenholme. [DPS-SP10_05] '1M94 - 0907 Glasgow Central to Manchester Airport' – LM/FTPE Class 350 Difficulty: Medium Length: 90 Minutes Start Time: 10:22 Description With the Glasgow Commonwealth Games imminent, First Transpennine Express have loaned in extra Class 350 units from London Midland to cope with demand. You will drive one such strengthened service that has originated in Glasgow. Briefing Starting at Gretna Junction, you are running several minutes early and are being held to allow a late running Scotrail service in front. You will then call at Carlisle, Penrith, Lancaster and finally Preston where another driver will take over. Notes Although the Class 350/4 has a top speed of 110mph, this path is currently timed for 100mph only. You do have permission to travel at 110mph where the linespeed permits, should you need to recover lost time. [DPS-SP10_06] '2C38 - 1512 Carlisle to Preston' – Northern Class 156 (2 Car) Difficulty: Medium Length: 35 Minutes Start Time: 18:54 Description This evening you are in charge of a Northern Rail service from Carlisle to Preston, driving the final leg from Carnforth. Earlier delays mean that certain services are running late but as things return to normal, delays are expected to be minimal. Briefing Starting at Carnforth, first release the doors to allow passengers to board before awaiting your departure time. You will then call at Lancaster and Preston. Notes Due to an issue with platform markers at Lancaster, you will need to stop near the end of the platform when making this stop or the doors will not open. This is not an issue that I can fix in the scenario. Although the train depicted is intended to be numbered as 156444, the rear car has been numbered as 156445. This is due to the numbering system on the model itself, whereby if two identical numbers are added for each car, problems arise with door opening and the guard buzzer. Requirements The following stock used has been chosen to try and replicate the correct workings from the real world, where possible. Although the list of required payware is quite extensive, a large proportion of users generally have many of the popular items listed below and I make no apology for the use of these items in order to be as realistic as possible. All scenario packs from DPSimulation are designed to add further enjoyment to what you have already purchased, however, if you don't own some of the items then please note that RWTools offers a facility to 'swap out' any items that you don't have meaning that these scenario packs should be accessible to all in some form. If you do swap out items, you do so at your own risk and DPSimulation cannot be held responsible for the any scenario not working as originally intended because of this process. More recently, DPSimulation have concentrated the majority of their efforts on freeware for the community but have in the past created routes such as Newcastle to York "Modern", Bristol to Exeter and Totham for Just Trains, as well as creating numerous projects alongside the creators of the software, RailSimulator.com Initially creating content and uploading to community websites such as UKTrainsim, in 2010 DPSimulation purchased their own domain at www.dpsimulation.org.uk in order to provide an alternative resource for their own addons and those from around the community. All downloads are permanently high speed with no queues or reduced speeds. DPSimulation - www.dpsimulation.org.uk DPSimulation Blog - www.dpsimulation.blogspot.co.uk DPSimulation Twitter - @DPSimulation Donations Although downloads and content from DPSimulation is primarily free, it does not mean that we do not have weekly/monthly/yearly outgoings. Things such as a high level domain and server costs do mount up, along with the purchase of the relevant research materials and tools to create our content. We then also then have to purchase the addons we use, in this case to create this scenario pack. Although donations are not mandatory to access our content, they are always welcome, specifically to contribute towards the costs we incur in keeping a free service going, no matter how small. All donations will help support the site and addon growth, and play a large part in providing a free, high speed download service for all. If you are interested in making a donation to DPSimulation, this can be done via Paypal and there are donation buttons at the bottom of some pages on www.dpsimulation.org.uk along with one on the right hand side of the official blog, the address of which is above. Support In the unlikely event that this pack does not function as intended, please contact us via our support address, giving as much detail as possible. http://www.dpsimulation.org.uk/contactus.html Credits All scenarios have been created by DPSimulation specifically for this package. Thanks is also given to the team of beta testers, particularly Sean Harris and Richard Fletcher, who work tirelessly to make sure that the content leaves the door in working order. Thanks also Richard Fletcher for the creation of specific repaints for this pack and his allowance for their use in a payware pack to support the DPSimulation website. Likewise, thanks to all other creators that gave permission for their content to be utilised as part of this pack. © DPSimulation 2014
