Introduction This scenario pack comprises of four scenarios plus one bonus, all based on the WCML Over Shap route available from Steam. Covering Virgin loco hauled passenger operations during the late 1990's, the scenarios utilise the newer advanced versions of both the Class 47 & Class 87 provided with the route along with the Class 90 and offer around four hours of additional driving. Created using real timetables, this scenario pack features prototypical consists for the era, prototypical passing AI, adverse signals, AI interaction and much more... Installation If you have downloaded this pack and are already reading this, there is a good chance you have already installed the scenarios because you have already unpackaged the .rar format and revealed the .rwp. If you are still struggling, the included .rwp can be installed using the Package Manager which can be found by using "Utilities.exe" which is located in your Steam \steamapps\common\railworks directory. Alternatively, archiving programs such as WinRar or 7- Zip can open the .rwp file and the scenarios can manually be placed in your TS2014 installation. Please note that if you are uncomfortable with moving these files manually, I take no responsibility for any damage you may cause to your install if the process is not done correctly. Official installation instructions can also be found via the user manuals, located in your install at Steam\steamapps\common\railworks\Manuals After installation is complete, the scenarios should then be viewable in the scenario editor via the Single Player/Standard Scenarios option and will be located within the list for the WCML Over Shap route. In the case of this scenario pack, all scenarios are prefixed with [DPS-SP02_XX] and numbered accordingly from 1 through to 4 and B for bonus. Scenario Overview [DPS-SP02_01] – 'Seaside Special' – Virgin Class 47 Difficulty: Easy Length: 30 Minutes Start Time: 16:18 Description It's summer on the west coast of England, and during this period, Virgin Trains provide one direct train each way, per day between Morecambe and Birmingham New Street. Briefing Starting at Morecambe, please first release the doors to allow passengers to board in anticipation of your booked departure time of 16:20. On departure, you will be calling at Lancaster and Preston where another driver will take over. [DPS-SP02_02] – 'Dawn Replacement' - Virgin Class 87 Difficulty: Hard Length: 75 Minutes Start Time: 05:41 Description It's an early start for you at Carlisle as you take over a London bound service that originated in Glasgow. Booked for a Class 90 locomotive, this had failed at Glasgow Central resulting in a Class 87 being sent from Polmadie as a substitute. Briefing Starting at Carlisle, first release your doors to allow passengers to board before preparing for your booked departure time of 05:43. You will then be calling at Oxenholme, Penrith, Lancaster and finally Preston where another driver will take over. Notes Although the timings on this particular scenario are tight, and made even more difficult by the use of neutral sections using the Class 87, normal and precise driving will allow this scenario to be completed successfully. [DPS-SP01_03] – 'No Show' - Virgin Class 90 Difficulty: Medium Length: 40 Minutes Start Time: 06:05 Description Following the no show of a fellow colleague, you have been asked to work this morning's ECS service from Preston to Lancaster, with a reversal at Carnforth. Normally scheduled to leave Preston at 05:11, you are now nearly an hour late and will do well to get to Lancaster in time for the booked departure to London Euston at 06:44. Briefing Due to the late running of this ECS service, you are currently sat at Preston awaiting a path. Once given the signal to proceed, you will be running to Carnforth where you will change ends and return to Lancaster ready to form the early morning service to London Euston. [DPS-SP02_04] – 'Electric Dreams' - Virgin Class 90 Difficulty: Easy Length: 75 Minutes Start Time: 13.39 Description You are in charge of the 11:30 London Euston to Glasgow Central service, hauled by a Class 90 locomotive. This should be a routine run, traffic levels are normal and no problems have been reported so far meaning you should be able to enjoy the stunning scenery. Briefing Starting at Preston, first release your doors to allow passengers to board before preparing for your booked departure time of 13:41. You will then be calling at Lancaster, Oxenholme and finally Carlisle where another driver will take over for the remainder of the journey to Glasgow. [DPS-SP02_B] – 'Penrith Show' – Virgin Class 47 Difficulty: Easy Length: 20 Minutes Start Time: 16.17 Description Rapidly increasing in popularity over the years, the Penrith Agricultural Show has promised to be bigger and better than ever, and record numbers are expected to attend. As a joint venture, Northern Spirit and Virgin have joined forces to provide several extra services, hauled by a Class 47 and Virgin stock in order to cope. Briefing Starting at Carlisle, first release your doors to allow passengers to board before preparing for your booked departure time of 16:19. You will then run to Penrith with this, the final southbound shuttle of the day. Requirements The following stock used has been chosen to try and replicate the correct workings from the real world, where possible. Although the list of required payware is quite extensive, a large proportion of users generally have many of the popular items listed below and I make no apology for the use of these items in order to be as realistic as possible. All scenario packs from DPSimulation are designed to add further enjoyment to what you have always purchased, however, if you don't own some of the items then please note that RWTools offers a facility to 'swap out' any items that you don't have meaning that these scenario packs should be accessible to all in some form. If you do swap out items, you do so at your own risk and DPSimulation cannot be held responsible for the any scenario not working as originally intended because of this process. DPSimulation - www.dpsimulation.org.uk DPSimulation Blog - www.dpsimulation.blogspot.co.uk DPSimulation Twitter - @DPSimulation Donations Although downloads and content from DPSimulation is primarily free, it does not mean that we do not have weekly/monthly/yearly outgoings. Things such as a high level domain and server costs do mount up, along with the purchase of the relevant research materials and tools to create our content. We then also then have to purchase the addons we use, in this case to create this scenario pack. Although donations are not mandatory to access our content, they are always welcome, specifically to contribute towards the costs we incur in keeping a free service going, no matter how small. All donations will help support the site and addon growth, and play a large part in providing a free, high speed download service for all. If you are interested in making a donation to DPSimulation, this can be done via Paypal and there are donation buttons at the bottom of some pages on www.dpsimulation.org.uk along with one on the right hand side of the official blog, the address of which is above. Support In the unlikely event that this pack does not function as intended, please contact us via our support address, giving as much detail as possible. http://www.dpsimulation.org.uk/contactus.html Credits All scenarios have been created by DPSimulation specifically for this package. Thanks is also given to the team of beta testers who work tirelessly to make sure that the content leaves the door in working order. © DPSimulation 2014
