Introduction This scenario pack comprises of five scenarios, all based on the West Coast Main Line North route available from Steam. Set in 2011, the pack covers both the recently released Class 91 & Class 92 locomotives. The scenarios offer varying and challenging operations and give around four and a half hours of further driving on this route. Created using real timetables, this scenario pack features prototypical consists, prototypical passing AI, lots of adverse signals and AI interaction to give an engaging and realistic experience. Installation If you have downloaded this pack and are already reading this, there is a good chance you have already installed the scenarios because you have already unpackaged the .rar format and revealed the .rwp. If you are still struggling, the included .rwp can be installed using the Package Manager which can be found by using "Utilities.exe" which is located in your Steam \steamapps\common\railworks directory. Alternatively, archiving programs such as WinRar or 7- Zip can open the .rwp file and the scenarios can manually be placed in your TS2014 installation. Please note that if you are uncomfortable with moving these files manually, I take no responsibility for any damage you may cause to your install if the process is not done correctly. Official installation instructions can also be found via the user manuals, located in your install at Steam\steamapps\common\railworks\Manuals After installation is complete, the scenarios should then be viewable in the scenario editor via the Single Player/Standard Scenarios option and will be located within the list for the West Coast Main Line North route. In the case of this scenario pack, all scenarios are prefixed with [DPS-SP06_XX] and numbered accordingly from 1 through to 5. Scenario Overview [DPS-SP06_01] 5E06 - 0600 Polmadie Depot to Glasgow Central – East Coast Class 91 Difficulty: Easy Length: 15 Minutes Start Time: 06:05 Description It's an early start for you at Polmadie as you are preparing to take a rake of empty coaching stock from the depot into Glasgow Central, where it will then form the 0650 service to London Kings Cross. The Class 91 is already prepared and you are clear to depart immediately. Briefing Starting at Polmadie Depot, take your train to Glasgow Central where it will form a service to London Kings Cross. Notes This scenario has the 'chaining' feature whereby on successful completion, TS2014 will automatically DPS-SP06_2 where the player service follows on from this scenario. The second scenario can also be loaded as normal from the 'Drive>Standard' menu. [DPS-SP06_02] – '1E06 - 0650 Glasgow Central to London Kings Cross' – East Coast DVT Difficulty: Medium Length: 85 Minutes Start Time: 06:48 Description After earlier bringing the empty stock from Polmadie, you are now prepared for departure from Glasgow Central. As the East Coast Main Line is closed north of Berwick-upon-Tweed, you are diverted via Carlisle and the Tyne Valley Line. Briefing Starting at Glasgow Central, first release the doors to allow passengers to board your service. You will then proceed to Carlisle, calling at Motherwell en route. Due to the diversions, paths for East Coast services have had to be slotted into the already busy WCML so you may encounter traffic along your journey. Notes Please ensure that you follow the white speed boards only, and not the yellow 'EPS' boards which are only to be used by tilting stock. Failure to do this may result in the scenario not working as intended. [DPS-SP06_03] – '1S23 - 1530 London Kings Cross to Glasgow Central' – East Coast Class 91 Difficulty: Medium Length: 80 Minutes Start Time: 20:24 Description This evening you are in charge of a service from London Kings Cross to Glasgow Central, diverted via the Tyne Valley Line due to a line closure north of Berwick-upon-Tweed. Briefing Starting at Carlisle, you are required to release the doors to allow passengers to board. On depature, you will be calling at Motherwell and Glasgow Central. Traffic is starting to wind down for the evening and no major problems are exvisaged so enjoy the sunset. Notes Please ensure that you follow the white speed boards only, and not the yellow 'EPS' boards which are only to be used by tilting stock. Failure to do this may result in the scenario not working as intended. [DPS-SP06_04] – '5M11 - Polmadie Depot to Glasgow Central' – EWS Class 92 Difficulty: Medium Length: 65 Minutes Start Time: 20:45 Description This evening you are in charge of conveying the coaching stock for the Caledonian Sleeper from Polmadie Depot to Glasgow Central. Although most ECS workings are done direct, this service is sent via Hamilton, Motherwell and Bellshill in order to maintain route knowledge. Briefing Starting at Polmadie Depot, you are cleared for an immediate departure and will travel via Hamilton, Motherwell and Bellshill before an arrival at Glasgow Central which is scheduled for around 21:50. Notes Due to issues beyond my control, signal number M206 in the Blantyre area stays on red when following another service. I have had this issue at the same signal, in a similar situation and there is no way for me to fix the problem directly. To combat this, I have issued markers and instruction within the scenario as part of the scenario storyline. [DPS-SP06_05] – '1S05 - 0700 London Kings Cross to Glasgow Central' – East Coast Class 91 Difficulty: Easy Length: 35 Minutes Start Time: 12:10 Description Following the long journey up from London Kings Cross, you have now joined the West Coast Main Line at Carstairs and will continue the service to Glasgow Central, calling at Motherwell en route. Briefing Starting at Carstairs, you are being held in platform 2 to allow a late running Virgin service to pass. Once given the signal to proceed, you will be calling at Motherwell and Glasgow Central. Notes At the start of the scenario, the signal which you are held behind may stay at red once the Virgin service has passed. If it does, once the train has cleared the block ahead, press TAB to contact the signaller and gain permission to pass the signal at danger. There is no other workaround for this issue. Requirements The following stock used has been chosen to try and replicate the correct workings from the real world, where possible. Although the list of required payware is quite extensive, a large proportion of users generally have many of the popular items listed below and I make no apology for the use of these items in order to be as realistic as possible. All scenario packs from DPSimulation are designed to add further enjoyment to what you have already purchased, however, if you don't own some of the items then please note that RWTools offers a facility to 'swap out' any items that you don't have meaning that these scenario packs should be accessible to all in some form. If you do swap out items, you do so at your own risk and DPSimulation cannot be held responsible for the any scenario not working as originally intended because of this process. More recently, DPSimulation have concentrated the majority of their efforts on freeware for the community but have in the past created routes such as Newcastle to York "Modern", Bristol to Exeter and Totham for Just Trains, as well as creating numerous projects alongside the creators of the software, RailSimulator.com Initially creating content and uploading to community websites such as UKTrainsim, in 2010 DPSimulation purchased their own domain at www.dpsimulation.org.uk in order to provide an alternative resource for their own addons and those from around the community. Things such as a high level domain and server costs do mount up, along with the purchase of the relevant research materials and tools to create our content. We then also then have to purchase the addons we use, in this case to create this scenario pack. Although donations are not mandatory to access our content, they are always welcome, specifically to contribute towards the costs we incur in keeping a free service going, no matter how small. All donations will help support the site and addon growth, and play a large part in providing a free, high speed download service for all. If you are interested in making a donation to DPSimulation, this can be done via Paypal and there are donation buttons at the bottom of some pages on www.dpsimulation.org.uk along with one on the right hand side of the official blog, the address of which is above. Support In the unlikely event that this pack does not function as intended, please contact us via our support address, giving as much detail as possible. http://www.dpsimulation.org.uk/contactus.html Credits All scenarios have been created by DPSimulation specifically for this package. Thanks is also given to the team of beta testers who work tirelessly to make sure that the content leaves the door in working order. Thanks also to the third party creators of the various reskins used in this pack and for allowing them to be used in this scenario pack. © DPSimulation 2014
