British Transport Police have released CCTV images as part of an investigation into the theft of a suitcase containing jewellery of significant sentimental value on a train between London Paddington and Kemble.

The incident happened on Friday 13 February. At around 09:10am, a woman arrived at London Paddington Station and later boarded the 09:32 service to Kemble, placing her suitcase in the luggage rack. A man is seen also boarding the train at Paddington before taking the suitcase, which was said to be worth more than £4,500, and moving into another carriage.

Officers have since recovered the suitcase, however the jewellery that had been inside was missing.

Police say the man shown in the CCTV images may have information that could assist their enquiries and are appealing for the public’s help in identifying him.

Anyone who recognises them is asked to contact BTP by texting 61016, or by calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 2600019296
