All rail lines between Eastleigh and Basingstoke have been closed while emergency services respond to an ongoing incident, bringing significant disruption to services in the area.

Trains operating between the two stations may be delayed by up to 60 minutes, cancelled outright or amended from their usual routes. Major disruption is expected to remain in place until the end of the day, with passengers urged to check before travelling.

Initial advice at the time of the incident occuring was as follows:

South Western Railway has confirmed that ticket acceptance is in place across a number of alternative routes and operators, including certain local bus services. Rail replacement transport has also been arranged. In addition, passengers whose journeys have been heavily disrupted are permitted to book their own taxi and claim the cost back through the South Western Railway website. This applies to travel between any stations served by South Western Railway between Basingstoke and Southampton Central and Eastleigh and Fareham.

CrossCountry has advised that tickets can be used at no extra cost on the two CrossCountry services running immediately before and after a cancelled service. Alternatively, passengers may travel on South Western Railway services between Southampton and Basingstoke, or on Great Western Railway services between Basingstoke and Oxford via Reading.

Passengers are reminded that ticket acceptance and alternative travel arrangements can be withdrawn at short notice and should check with their operator before setting out.
