Emergency Services Attend Fatal Railway Incident Near Barnt Green

A fatal incident on a railway line in the West Midlands has been confirmed by police following an emergency response over the weekend.

Officers and paramedics were called to Barnt Green railway station shortly after 8pm on Saturday January 24 after reports were received of a person on the tracks. Despite the attendance of emergency services, the individual was pronounced dead at the scene.

British Transport Police have confirmed the circumstances are not being treated as suspicious and that a report will be submitted to the coroner in line with standard procedure.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said:

"We were called to an incident on the railway line near to Barnt Green Railway Station at 8.12pm on Saturday. On arrival we discovered one patient. Sadly it quickly became apparent nothing could be done to save them and they were confirmed dead at the scene."

A spokesperson for British Transport Police said:

"We were called shortly after 8pm on Saturday 24 January following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Officers attended along with paramedics but sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
