Fatality Reported on Railway Near Welshpool, Police Confirm

Emergency services have confirmed that a person has died following an incident on the Shrewsbury to Mid Wales railway line.

British Transport Police said officers were called to the Welshpool area on Friday morning, January 30, after reports of a casualty on the tracks. Paramedics also attended the scene, but the individual was pronounced dead.

Police said the circumstances are not being treated as suspicious and that the incident will be referred to the coroner in due course.

A spokesperson for British Transport Police said:

"Officers were called at around 10.45am today (30 January) to reports of a casualty on the tracks in the Welshpool area. Officers responded with paramedics, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
