Police officers assaulted during robbery attempt at Oxford Circus station

Detectives have issued CCTV images as part of an investigation into a robbery and the assault of two police officers at Oxford Circus Underground station.

The incident took place at around 3.15pm on Sunday 8 March on the Central Line platform. Officers say two men attempted to steal a phone from a passenger as he got off a train.

Members of the British Transport Police intervened, but both officers were assaulted during the incident before the suspects fled the station.

Detectives believe the individuals shown in the released images may have information that could assist with the investigation and are urging them to come forward.
