Portsmouth Direct Line Trains Disrupted After Emergency Incident

Passengers travelling through parts of the South West rail network are facing major disruption after emergency services responded to an incident between Guildford railway station and Havant railway station.

Train services running across several major routes are being cancelled, delayed or revised while emergency crews deal with the situation. Disruption is currently expected to continue until the end of the day.

The incident is affecting services operating:

• Between London Waterloo station and Portsmouth & Southsea railway station / Fareham railway station / Southampton Central railway station
• Between London Waterloo / Guildford and Portsmouth Harbour railway station
• Between Woking railway station and Southampton Central

Response teams from Network Rail are travelling to the scene. To allow emergency services safe access to the railway, power to the affected lines will need to be switched off, meaning trains in the area may be unable to move.

At present, there is no confirmed timeframe for when the route will fully reopen.

South Western Railway has begun altering services, with some trains terminating early or starting from different locations. Diversions are also expected on parts of the network.

Replacement bus services are being arranged, while passengers will also be able to use rail tickets at no extra cost on certain local bus services between Haslemere railway station and Havant.
