This production offers a full front-cab experience on one of London’s most historic deep-level routes, the Bakerloo line. Linking key main line stations with the bustle of the West End, it shows how this vital commuter artery keeps the capital moving. We begin at Elephant & Castle, where the line operates with tight turnaround times on just two platforms to sustain its fast-paced, three-minute service. From here, the journey heads north through deep tube tunnels before surfacing at Queen’s Park, where the long-serving 1972 stock trains share tracks with the main line railway. Around one in three services continues beyond the tube network to Harrow & Wealdstone, running alongside the West Coast Main Line.

The programme follows the entire route in real time, highlighting the route’s contrasting character as it transitions from busy central platforms to the suburban sections of north-west London. As part of the experience, we also step inside the Baker Street control and signalling centre, offering a behind-the-scenes look at how trains are monitored and managed along this busy corridor.

Also featured is the compact Waterloo & City line, the shortest self-contained passenger railway on the Underground network. Known for moving thousands of commuters between Waterloo and the financial district at Bank, this short but essential line runs for just over a mile and a half beneath the City. Filmed from the cab of a freshly refurbished 1992 stock unit, the journey begins in the reversing siding within the tight confines of Waterloo depot and proceeds all the way to Bank in real time.

Together, these two journeys show two very different sides of London Underground operation — from the long-established deep-level route of the Bakerloo to the intense, shuttle-style link of the Waterloo & City.
