The Lotus Remastered DLC for Car Mechanic Simulator 2021 was developed by Red Dot Games and published by PlayWay S.A.. It debuted on 5 May 2022 for PC. The base game itself was launched earlier in August 2021 across PC and consoles, and the DLC followed as part of the ongoing post‑release content for that version.

In terms of content and description, the Lotus Remastered pack adds two licence‑branded vehicles from the heritage maker Lotus: the Esprit S1 and Elise S1. In addition to the cars, it introduces corresponding engine options (an I4 2.0 DOHC and an I4 K‑series 1.8) for players to install, repair, tune and test in the simulation. The base game invites players to assume the role of a car‑garage operator, working through auctions, scratch‑car projects, part‑by‑part rebuilds, painting, tuning and road tests — offering a detailed and methodical experience of vehicle maintenance and customization.

As for promotion, the DLC was highlighted on the game’s storefront page and included in announcement posts via community channels around its release date of 5 May 2022. The developer flagged the DLC as part of the broader DLC roll‑out cadence for the game (it appears as the eighth such add‑on in sequence). Communication emphasised the addition of the Lotus branded content and encouraged players to explore the newly added cars and engines in their existing workshop setups. The pack was also bundled in various “DLC MegaPack” offers alongside other add‑ons for the base game.

Reception of the DLC has been moderately positive — the user reviews on the platform show a rating of “Mostly Positive” based on a modest sample of around twenty‑seven reviewers. Some players appreciated the inclusion of well‑known Lotus models and the additional mechanical options, while others felt that the content was more limited in scope compared to larger expansions. Overall it was seen as a solid value for fans of the simulation who enjoy expanding their garage libraries, though it did not markedly shift the wider critical or community narrative around the base game.
