The Car Mechanic Simulator 2021 – Taxi DLC was developed by GameFormatic S.A. and published by PlayWay S.A.. It was released on 17 January 2025 for the PC version of the base game. The base game itself initially launched in August 2021 and has since been made available on major console platforms.

In this DLC, players gain access to a set of six taxi-theme vehicles from around the world, including classic and regional taxi models such as the American “Liner Navigator,” a British “CAB Roamer,” a German “Olsen Pramie Club,” a French “Lacroix Marseille,” a Japanese “Sakura Tiara,” and a U.S. “Bolt Escapade Mk IV.” In addition to the cars, the pack includes eight customizable taxi roof light designs inspired by various regions globally. As with the base game, players operate a car-mechanic workshop: acquiring vehicles, diagnosing and repairing faults, rebuilding engines, customizing, painting, testing and selling or displaying their finished builds.

Promotion of the Taxi DLC focused on announcing the new pack in the game’s community channels and illustrating the global taxi vehicle theme with visuals of the new models and customizable roof lights. The announcement emphasised “driving classic taxis from around the world” and highlighted the launch date in mid-January. The pack was presented as part of the downloadable content expansion schedule for the game, giving players another way to expand their garage with specialised vehicles.

Reception of the Taxi DLC has been mixed. On the PC storefront the review count is relatively low and the overall user assessment is described as “Mixed,” with around half of reviewers responding positively. Many players appreciated the novelty of the themed vehicles and the customization of roof lights, but some remarked that the content felt more cosmetic than mechanically substantial and noted the pack lacked deeper gameplay changes or new systems.
