The MINI Cooper SX1 DLC for DiRT Rally 2.0 was developed by Codemasters and released on December 16, 2019. At the time, Codemasters also served as the publisher, with Electronic Arts later assuming publishing responsibilities following their acquisition of the studio. This DLC introduced the MINI Cooper SX1 to the game’s FIA World Rallycross Championship lineup, a car that had been fielded by the X-raid Team and driven by rallycross veteran Oliver Bennett. Its inclusion brought a distinctive and aggressive rallycross contender to the game’s expanding roster of modern supercars.

The MINI Cooper SX1 is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine producing around 600 horsepower, paired with a six-speed sequential gearbox and all-wheel drive. Built on a bespoke spaceframe chassis, the SX1 features a wide stance, flared bodywork, and a unique aerodynamic profile that sets it apart from other rallycross entries. Designed for explosive acceleration and tight handling, the car excels on the mixed-surface, high-intensity circuits typical of rallycross. Players can use the MINI Cooper SX1 in My Team, Custom Championships, Time Trial, and FIA World Rallycross Championship modes.

Promotion for the MINI Cooper SX1 DLC was part of Codemasters’ Season Four content rollout for DiRT Rally 2.0. The studio announced the release through Steam updates, social media posts, and developer blogs, often accompanied by gameplay footage and screenshots showcasing the car’s bold design and competitive performance. Codemasters highlighted the car’s real-world presence in the 2019 World RX season and its association with Oliver Bennett, appealing to fans of contemporary rallycross and unique vehicle designs.

Reception to the DLC was generally positive, with players praising the MINI Cooper SX1 for its distinctive appearance, responsive handling, and faithful recreation. The car was noted for offering a slightly different driving feel compared to other rallycross supercars, making it a refreshing addition for players seeking variety. While it didn’t introduce new gameplay mechanics, its real-world relevance and standout design added depth to DiRT Rally 2.0’s vehicle lineup. The DLC further reinforced the game’s reputation as a detailed and immersive rally and rallycross simulation.
