Hoops is a basketball video game developed by Aicom and published by Jaleco for the Nintendo Entertainment System. It was released in Japan on November 22, 1988, and in North America in June 1989, where it was known for its fast-paced two-on-two basketball gameplay. In Japan, the game is part of the "Moero!!" sports series and is titled Moero!! Junior Basket – Two on Two. The game was inspired by the popularity of basketball in the 1980s and aimed to provide a quick, arcade-style sports experience for NES players.

In Hoops, players control a pair of basketball players competing in half-court matches. The game offers both single-player and multiplayer modes, allowing users to face off against the computer or a friend. The controls are simple, covering shooting, passing, and stealing, which makes the game easy to pick up but challenging to master. Although it does not feature real-life teams or players, it captures the competitive spirit of basketball through its rapid gameplay and strategic movement.

The soundtrack of Hoops, composed by Kiyoshi Yokoyama, Dōta Andō, and Masaki Nagakura, enhances the energetic atmosphere of the game. The music features upbeat and catchy melodies that complement the intensity of the matches, helping to immerse players in the excitement of each game. While repetitive over long sessions, the music reinforces the fast-paced and competitive nature of the gameplay, keeping players engaged.

Hoops did not have a direct sequel on the NES, but its influence can be seen in later basketball games that adopted similar two-on-two mechanics. The game was promoted through advertisements highlighting its multiplayer mode and arcade-style fun, appealing to both casual and dedicated players. Although reviews were mixed, the game is remembered fondly for its accessible gameplay, straightforward mechanics, and nostalgic value among NES basketball titles.
