HST West – Exeter to Plymouth

Experience nearly the entire journey along Brunel’s historic line from Exeter St David’s to Newton Abbot, including the famous seaside stretch at Dawlish, with its dramatic coastal views. From there, the train heads inland to Totnes, climbing the challenging banks at Dainton and Rattery, passing through Ivybridge on the edge of Dartmoor, and continuing into Plymouth. The journey concludes with a driver’s eye view crossing the iconic Royal Albert Bridge at Saltash. Filmed in 1986, just weeks before the final semaphore signals were retired.

HST Far West – Plymouth to Penzance

Starting at the Royal Albert Bridge, this 75-mile journey west to Penzance traverses some of Britain’s most remarkable railway engineering. The line features the highest density of viaducts per mile on any UK railway, with dramatic curves leaving only a single straight mile of track along the entire route. The Driver’s eye view covers virtually every section, including numerous single-line stretches, offering a complete perspective of this scenic West Country route.

Both productions include aerial footage captured from a helicopter, highlighting landmarks such as the Atmospheric Railway pump house at Starcross, the Dobwalls miniature railway, and the Bodmin Steam Railway.
