Medieval StartUp is developed and published by Editions Aspic Games, making it an independently created and self-released title. It launched in Early Access on 1 November 2025, allowing the developer to expand the project with community input while retaining full creative control. The game sits within the medieval management and life-simulation genre, blending village-building elements with hands-on tavern operations.

At release, Medieval StartUp launched exclusively on PC via Steam, where it remains available in Early Access. A separate demo is also available, giving players a chance to experience the concept before purchasing the full version. No console editions or additional platform releases have been announced, indicating the focus remains firmly on PC while development continues.

Players begin the game as a tavern-keeper in a remote swamp settlement, managing a humble inn and gradually turning it into the heart of a growing village. Responsibilities include preparing meals, serving customers, managing staff, and crafting goods, with new professions such as carpentry, baking, and blacksmithing becoming available as the settlement grows. Exploration plays a role too, encouraging players to venture beyond the tavern to gather resources and uncover secrets. The visual presentation uses a stylised low-poly look, complemented by a dynamic day-night cycle.

Promotion for Medieval StartUp centred around its Early Access debut, with the developer encouraging player involvement in shaping the game’s evolution. The availability of a free demo supported this approach by offering unlimited trial access, helping build awareness and attract an audience interested in cozy medieval management experiences and incremental progression systems.

Early reception has been modest but shows potential. Initial player impressions highlight the charming concept, enjoyable progression loop, and promising blend of tavern management and settlement building. However, feedback also notes rough edges, including bugs and incomplete mechanics expected in an Early Access title. Some early players pointed out issues such as certain achievements not unlocking and occasional progression blocks, along with language support still under development. Overall, the game has been recognised as an ambitious and atmospheric project with room to grow as updates roll out.
