The My First Pet Stuff pack for The Sims 4 was developed by Maxis and published by Electronic Arts, released in 2018. It is a smaller stuff pack that requires the base game and was positioned as a family‑friendly add‑on focused on introducing very young players and households to pet care with soft, accessible mechanics and decorative items.

The pack adds small pets such as hamsters, rats, pygmy hedgehogs and miniature bubalus along with habitats and care interactions, new pet-themed clothing and matching outfits for Sims, and decorative build/buy items aimed at children’s rooms and cozy family homes. Gameplay centers on basic caretaking, playtime and dressing pets, rather than deeper pet mechanics found in larger pet expansions, making it an object- and roleplay-focused release that complements existing pet systems.

Promotion for My First Pet Stuff used Electronic Arts’ and Maxis’ standard channels, including store announcements, social media posts and short showcase materials that highlighted the new small animals, habitats and matching outfits; community creators and livestreams were used to demonstrate how the pack’s items could be used in family and kid‑friendly stories and room designs. Marketing framed the pack as an entry‑level, whimsical addition for players who enjoy decorative content and lighthearted pet roleplay.

Reception was mixed to negative among players, with appreciation from some for its cute aesthetic, child‑oriented content and decorative pieces, while many users criticised the pack for its limited scope and relatively shallow gameplay compared with larger pet-focused expansions. Overall the pack appealed most to players seeking themed build/buy assets and gentle roleplay opportunities for families with young Sims, while those looking for substantial new mechanics found it underwhelming.
