Train Sim World 6 was developed by Dovetail Games and officially released on September 30, 2025. It continues as the latest entry in the Train Sim World franchise. The game is available across multiple platforms including PC (on Steam and Epic), PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox One and Series X|S. An important feature of TSW6 is backward compatibility: players can carry over much of their existing train and route collection from previous entries in the series into the new version.

In terms of gameplay, Train Sim World 6 retains the core of what the series is known for: realistic train operation, route navigation, and the management of timetables and services. What’s new in this installment are systems intended to increase unpredictability and immersion, such as toggleable random events like signal delays or equipment faults, and audible announcements in stations and onboard. These additions aim to ensure that no two runs feel exactly the same. The game also supports multiple play modes—scenario, free roam, and more—and includes tools for players to layer services from other routes and expand their experience.

One of the major selling points of Train Sim World 6 is the inclusion of three new base routes. These are the Morristown Line (NJ Transit, USA), the Riviera Line (UK between Exeter, Plymouth and Paignton), and the Leipzig–Dresden route in Germany. These routes are included in the standard edition, giving players new geographic variety and new environments to explore. Alongside the routes, the game offers new rolling stock and enhancements to audio and visual systems to complement the fresh content.

Promotion for TSW6 was active in the months before release. Dovetail Games used their “Dovetail Direct: Summer 2025” livestream event to reveal features, routes, and content, and offered a Free Starter Pack to let new and existing players test a core subset of the game. Marketing emphasized the new random event and fault systems, the audible announcements, and the ability to carry over previous content. After launch, previews and reviews highlighted the iterative nature of the game: many saw the new features as valuable additions, but some critics and fans noted that the step forward feels more evolutionary than revolutionary. Reception has been generally positive among train-sim enthusiasts, though some have called for more substantial change in future entries.
