Experience the quaint ÖBB 5047 which thanks to Skyhook Games and Railworks Austria has arrived for Train Simulator!

The ÖBB 5047 was built in 1987 following an order for a series of diesel railcars that were based off DB’s BR 627 units. They would be designed to fulfil quieter duties on rural routes, being made of only a single vehicle and featuring an on-board ticket machine, allowing people to purchase tickets without the need for machines or additional staff at every station.

By 1995, a total of 100 railcars had been built, replacing many older types of units including some which pre-dated the Second World War, meaning rural lines across Austria saw a step-change in comfort and reliability.

The railcars were first shipped in ÖBB’s a beige livery, complete with their original logo, however following refurbishment in 2004 this was changed for a white livery and the newer ÖBB guise.

In Train Simulator, you can explore every detail of this unique railcar in full authenticity as Skyhook Games and Railworks Austria have joined forces to bring this little unit to virtual life!
