The Speedy Recovery DLC for Two Point Hospital was developed by Two Point Studios and released on March 15, 2022. The publisher for the game and its expansions was SEGA Europe Ltd. This DLC marked the seventh major expansion for the hospital management sim, introducing a new gameplay mechanic centered around emergency response. It expanded the core experience by allowing players to manage a fleet of ambulances tasked with retrieving patients from across Two Point County and delivering them to hospitals for treatment.

Speedy Recovery added three new hospital locations—Ailing, Betts Shore, and Pointy Pass—each with unique challenges and layouts. The DLC introduced 19 new illnesses, including six with fully animated visual effects, and three new cure machines. A key feature was the ambulance dispatch system, which included a variety of vehicle types such as the Pantomobile, Big-Healer, Relicopter, and Airloovator, each with different strengths and capacities. Players had to strategically deploy these vehicles to outpace rival hospitals and maximize patient intake, adding a competitive layer to the management gameplay.

Promotion for the Speedy Recovery DLC included announcements via Steam, social media campaigns, and developer blogs. Two Point Studios emphasized the new ambulance gameplay and the return to familiar regions like Pointy Mountains and Pebberley Island, though the DLC did not require previous expansions to access these areas. The marketing highlighted the quirky humor and inventive mechanics that fans had come to expect from the series, with trailers showcasing the new vehicles and emergency scenarios. The character of Gretchen Gearbox, a fictional inventor, was introduced to guide players through the new systems.

Reception to Speedy Recovery was generally positive, with players and critics praising the fresh gameplay twist and the expanded content. The ambulance dispatch system was seen as a creative addition that added urgency and variety to hospital operations. The new illnesses and cure machines maintained the series’ signature charm, while the competitive element of racing against rival hospitals added replayability. While some players noted that the core mechanics remained largely unchanged, the DLC was appreciated for its humor, polish, and ability to breathe new life into the Two Point Hospital experience.
