Amtrak Unveils Limited-Edition ‘Trak Suit’ to Mark NextGen Acela Launch
Amtrak has launched a limited-edition fashion release inspired by the debut of its NextGen Acela fleet, offering customers a chance to purchase a bespoke ‘Trak Suit’ for a short window at the Amtrak Store.
The two-piece set draws on the winning ready-to-wear entry from Amtrak’s recent design showcase and competition, reworking the classic tracksuit silhouette to reflect the premium comfort and contemporary styling associated with the new high-speed trains. Designed by New York School of Design student Anastasiia Lukinskaia, the exclusive outfit will be available to buy from Thursday, Jan. 29 until Monday, Feb. 2 through the Amtrak Store.
Crafted using microfiber fleece poly fabric, the ‘Trak Suit’ features rich printed colours intended to deliver a soft and comfortable feel for travel. The set includes a hooded sweatshirt and matching trousers, both finished with embroidered logos, a distinctive zipper pull, and a built-in detachable sleep mask concealed within the hoodie, blending practicality with relaxed styling.
The design originated through Amtrak’s collaboration with the New York School of Design, which last autumn invited seven emerging designers to reinterpret the enduring appeal of the tracksuit. Each look was designed and sewn in the United States, with garments being conceptualised, cut, assembled and styled by hand. The project concluded with a fashion show staged during Fall Fashion Week in New York.
The release coincides with the rollout of NextGen Acela, Amtrak’s new premium train service operating between Washington, DC, New York and Boston, with stops at major cities along the Northeast Corridor. The fleet introduces a refreshed onboard experience, including free high-speed 5G-enabled Wi-Fi, power outlets, individual reading lights, and an upgraded dining offer through the new Cafe Acela, featuring a range of fresh food and beverages.
