Brighton Pride 2026: Thameslink Confirms Extra Trains for Huge Weekend Crowds
GTR has confirmed that an enhanced train service will be in place for Brighton Pride 2026, with extra capacity planned for one of the city’s busiest weekends of the year.
The operator, which runs Southern, Thameslink and Gatwick Express services in and out of Brighton, said longer trains will operate on Saturday 1 August to help manage the expected increase in passengers travelling to and from the event.
The strengthened service will include extra capacity on routes to and from London Bridge and London Victoria, as well as coastal services serving Brighton. Additional trains are also due to run at the busiest times of the day to help move crowds safely and efficiently.
Brighton Pride returns on Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 August 2026, marking its 35th year. The weekend will include the annual Pride Parade through the city, alongside free and ticketed entertainment.
Headline acts for the 2026 event include Raye on Saturday 1 August and Diana Ross on Sunday 2 August, with visitors expected to travel from across the UK.
GTR is encouraging passengers to start planning their journeys in advance by using the Journey Planner tools on the Southern, Thameslink and Gatwick Express websites. More detailed travel advice will be made available closer to the event.
Jenny Saunders, Customer Services Director at GTR, said:
“We’re excited to be working with event organisers and other local partners for the 35th anniversary of Brighton Pride. We will have plenty of services running throughout the day on Saturday 1 August to help people get to and from the event, but would advise leaving plenty of time to get there as some of our services will be much busier than usual. As per previous years, we’ll have a queueing system in place at Brighton station to manage crowds and ensure people leaving the city can do so safely. We look forward to welcoming people on board!”
Brighton station is expected to be especially busy across the Pride weekend, with crowd management measures again set to be used to help passengers leave the city safely.
Paul Kemp, Managing Director Brighton Hove Pride, added:
“We welcome the news that GTR will again be providing additional train services over the Pride weekend. We work closely with GTR to meet our shared aim for people coming to our city to have an enjoyable visit. We continue to be grateful to the whole GTR team for planning the best possible services over the anticipated busy Pride weekend this summer. Train services into our city are essential for tourism all year round. And Pride brings people into the city who often stay and return, helping shape, support and celebrate our diverse LGBTQ+ communities for the good of all.”
