Casualty found on tracks near Sandbach as police launch investigation
A person has died after an incident on the railway near Sandbach station in Cheshire. Emergency services were called to the line at around 10:20am on Friday, January 9, following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
Police and paramedics attended the scene, but the individual was pronounced dead a short time later, British Transport Police confirmed. Officers said the death is not being treated as suspicious and that a file is now being prepared for the coroner.
No information about the person’s identity, including name, age or gender, has yet been released.
A spokesperson for British Transport Police said:
"Officers were called to the line near Sandbach railway station following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
