Coast-to-coast rail travel promoted as Amtrak unveils Adventure Awaits sale
Amtrak has launched a nationwide travel offer inviting passengers to discover the breadth of the United States by rail, with a coast-to-coast pass timed to coincide with celebrations marking the country’s 250th anniversary.
The “Adventure Awaits Sale” allows travellers to access more than 500 destinations across the Amtrak network for a flat price of $250. The offer is built around the USA Rail Pass, which is designed to encourage multi-stop journeys through cities, towns and landscapes that reflect the country’s cultural and historical diversity.
The USA Rail Pass provides 10 ride segments in Coach class and can be used on most Amtrak routes, with no blackout dates in place. Customers must complete all travel within 120 days of purchase, with journeys required to finish within 30 days of taking the first segment.
Amtrak said the pass is aimed at flexible, exploratory travel, giving passengers the freedom to plan itineraries that span multiple regions. Members of Amtrak Guest Rewards will earn two points per dollar spent on the pass once the first travel segment has been completed.
The pass is valid on a wide range of long-distance, regional and corridor services. Eligible routes include the California Zephyr, Coast Starlight, Empire Builder, Southwest Chief and Crescent, alongside shorter-distance services such as the Downeaster, Hiawatha, Keystone Service and Pacific Surfliner. Cross-border and state-supported routes including the Adirondack, Maple Leaf, Amtrak Virginia and Illinois Services are also included.
Amtrak said the offer is intended to encourage travellers to experience the national rail network as a way of connecting with the country’s heritage, landscapes and communities, while providing a cost-effective option for extended journeys by train.
