Eastern Airways Cancels All Flights; ScotRail, LNER, TPE, and Northern Provide Free Train Travel
ScotRail and other UK train operators are offering free train travel to passengers affected by the suspension of operations at Eastern Airways. The airline, which operated regional flights across the UK and had a base in Aberdeen, announced on Monday that it had suspended all operations.
All Eastern Airways flights have been cancelled, and passengers have been advised not to travel to airports. Customers have been told to make “their own alternative travel arrangements” following the unexpected halt to the airline’s services.
To help stranded passengers, ScotRail, LNER, TransPennine Express (TPE), and Northern Railway will provide free Standard Class travel on Tuesday and Wednesday this week. The offer applies to both staff and customers impacted by the airline’s closure.
Affected individuals can access the free travel by presenting an Eastern Airways employee ID, boarding pass, or flight confirmation to station staff at participating stations.
Selina Chadha, Consumer & Markets Director at the UK Civil Aviation Authority, said: “We urge passengers planning to fly with this airline not to go to the airport as all Eastern Airways flights are cancelled. Eastern Airways customers should visit the Civil Aviation Authority’s website for the latest information.”
The collaborative response from the rail operators is aimed at minimising disruption for passengers who may now need to travel by train due to the airline’s sudden suspension of services.
