Greater Anglia Installs Real-Time Bus Info Screen to Aid Cambridge Passengers

Greater Anglia has enhanced onward travel information for passengers at Cambridge station with the installation of a new live bus departure screen. The display, positioned above the station’s main exit, gives passengers real-time details of local bus services, helping them make smoother connections between rail and bus travel across the city.

Developed in partnership with Stagecoach East, the system shares current route numbers, destinations, stand information and departure countdowns in minutes. Data is supplied directly from Traveline to ensure accuracy, rather than relying on static timetables. The project has been jointly funded by Stagecoach and Greater Anglia, with installation carried out by the train operator’s IT Projects team.

Scott Dolling, Greater Anglia’s Partnerships Manager, said:
“Cambridge is such a bustling and busy city with thousands of people travelling by train and bus each day. We are so pleased to launch the bus departures screen, which will make onward travel simpler and more convenient for our customers.”

David Boden, Commercial Director at Stagecoach East, added:
“The bus provides such an easy and great value way to get that ‘last mile’ from the train station to the middle of Cambridge, or wherever else you might need to go, so we are delighted that both local residents and visitors will now have the information they need to complete their journey.

“We are proud to be working, in partnership, with the Train Operator of the Year to provide a seamless and environmentally responsible way to get out and about in and around Cambridge. At a time of high congestion, this partnership provides the best way to cross the city quickly by bus and rail.”

Passengers can also benefit from PlusBus tickets, which allow discounted unlimited bus travel within the Cambridge area when purchased with a rail ticket, offering a convenient and cost-effective way to complete first-and-last-mile journeys.
