GWR Offers Free Travel to Eastern Airways Passengers and Staff Following Airline Collapse
Great Western Railway (GWR) is offering free Standard Class travel to Eastern Airways customers and staff affected by the airline’s collapse into administration.
The temporary scheme, in place on Tuesday 28 and Wednesday 29 October, covers journeys between Newquay and London Gatwick to assist those stranded after the airline suspended operations earlier this week.
Passengers can access the offer by presenting a valid Eastern Airways boarding pass, flight confirmation, or staff ID to GWR station or on-board staff. The move reflects similar measures adopted by other train operators to help affected travellers complete their journeys.
GWR Operations Director Richard Rowland said: “We understand how difficult it must be for those affected by the sudden suspension of Eastern Airways flights. We’re pleased to be able to step in and help customers and staff complete their journeys, ensuring they can get to where they need to be.”
The initiative is being coordinated nationally through the Rail Delivery Group and aligns with efforts across the rail industry to support passengers and employees impacted by the airline’s sudden closure.
