LNER Unveils Refreshed First Class Lounge at King’s Cross
A revamped First Class Lounge is set to reopen at London King’s Cross railway station, with London North Eastern Railway unveiling a redesigned space aimed at enhancing the premium travel experience.
The upgraded lounge will welcome customers again from Tuesday 31 March 2026, following a significant refurbishment focused on comfort, functionality and modern design. The refreshed layout introduces additional seating, dedicated areas for work, and a more open-plan feel, alongside heritage-inspired décor, improved lighting and increased greenery.
Passenger feedback has shaped many of the improvements, including the addition of more luggage and pushchair storage, a redesigned reception area, and a newly configured refreshments zone. Toilet facilities have also been modernised as part of the overhaul.
New customer information screens have been installed throughout the lounge, offering clearer travel updates including departure times, platform details and British Sign Language interpretation.
Complimentary food and drink will remain a central feature, with products sourced from across the length of LNER’s route. The operator continues to position its First Class offer as a premium option, combining lounge access with onboard benefits such as larger seats, more legroom and inclusive catering.
Passengers can access First Class either by booking in advance or upgrading onboard through the Train Manager, with the company highlighting the availability of competitively priced fares.
Colette Casey, Customer Experience Director at LNER, said:
“I’m thrilled that we will be welcoming back customers into our new and improved First Class Lounge at London King’s Cross. The Lounge has been transformed into a modern, comfortable, relaxing area for our First Class customers to spend time in and enjoy before or after travelling with us, and we cannot wait to hear what they think of the changes. I know first-hand how popular the Lounge is with our customers and I want to thank them for their patience while this important improvement work has taken place.”
