Newport Station Celebrates Albert Bray’s 80th Birthday and Two Decades of Dedicated Service
The team at Newport Station came together last week to celebrate a remarkable milestone – Customer Host Albert Bray’s 80th birthday.
Albert, originally from Newport, began his railway career in 2001 after previously working in engineering and shipbuilding. For more than two decades, he has been a familiar and friendly face for customers travelling across the Transport for Wales network.
“I love my job, I just get on with it,” explained Albert.
Albert, who’s enjoyed getting to know his regular customers over the years, added: “I think I’m known all the way from Carmarthen to Holyhead! You get a little bit of satisfaction from talking to customers, getting a reaction, making them smile. That’s what I like doing and that’s why I’m still doing it.”
Piers Croft, Onboard Services Director, said: “Albert is a fantastic example of the dedication and passion our colleagues bring to serving our customers every single day. For more than 20 years, he’s gone above and beyond to make their journeys better.
“His warmth and commitment have made him a much-loved member of the Newport team and a familiar face across the network. We’re delighted to celebrate this milestone with him and look forward to many more years working together.”
Albert marked his special day with a birthday cake made by colleagues at Transport for Wales’ catering facility in Newport.
With no plans to slow down, Albert is looking forward to continuing to serve customers up and down the network for a few more years yet.
