Passengers Warned of Disruption as Birmingham to Coventry Railway Closed for Maintenance
Passengers travelling this weekend are being warned of changes to journeys between Birmingham and Coventry due to essential track renewal work. The railway between Birmingham New Street and Coventry will be closed on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 October to allow Network Rail teams to carry out the planned maintenance.
The work is designed to provide better and more reliable journeys, with teams replacing track and conducting essential upkeep to ensure the railway remains safe for the tens of thousands of passengers and freight trains that use the line each week.
Bus replacement services will be in operation during the closure, so journeys will take longer than usual. Passengers are advised to plan ahead and check travel information before setting off.
Martin Colmey, operations director for Network Rail Central route, said: “I am sorry for the disruption caused while we complete this essential track renewal. We know there is never a good time to close the railway but this work has been carefully planned to keep disruption to a minimum while continuing to provide a safe and reliable service for passengers and freight. If you're planning to travel, please plan ahead allowing extra time for your journey and check before you travel for the latest journey information and travel advice.”
