Police Hunt Suspect After Early-Morning Subway Stabbing in Lower Manhattan

Police are searching for a suspect after a man was stabbed at a subway station in Lower Manhattan during the early hours of Wednesday.

The incident happened at the Broadway-Lafayette Street station, which serves the B, D, F and M lines, at about 5:21 a.m. on 28 January, according to police sources.

Investigators say the 51-year-old victim became involved in a verbal argument with another passenger, described as a man in his 30s, while they were travelling on a southbound train. The confrontation escalated as the train approached the station.

Police say that when the train arrived and the victim attempted to leave the subway, the suspect produced a knife and stabbed him in the back. The attacker then fled the station and has not yet been located.

The suspect was last seen wearing all black clothing. Officers from the NYPD’s 5th Precinct and Transit District 4 responded to the scene, while emergency medical services transported the injured man to Bellevue Hospital.

The victim was treated for his injuries and was listed in stable condition. No arrests have been made as the investigation continues.
