ScotRail Adds Extra Trains for Scotland’s Hampden Clash With Curaçao
ScotRail is urging Scotland supporters to use the train when travelling to Hampden for the national team’s final home friendly before heading to America for the FIFA World Cup.
Steve Clarke’s side will face Curaçao at Barclays Hampden on Saturday 30 May, with kick-off at 13:00. The match forms part of Scotland’s preparations for their first World Cup appearance in almost 30 years.
Large crowds are expected to travel into Glasgow for the game, and ScotRail will run extra trains and provide additional seats on services between Glasgow Central and Mount Florida, the nearest station to Hampden Park.
Fans are being encouraged to arrive early and use rail services to reach the stadium, with the operator warning that queuing systems will be in place to manage matchday crowds.
Customers travelling through Glasgow Central are also being reminded that the Gordon Street and Union Street entrances remain unavailable.
Supporters heading to the match, or travelling via Mount Florida, should use the Carriage Drive entrance off Hope Street. A queuing system will be in place there to help passengers board trains safely and efficiently.
Other passengers using Glasgow Central should enter via the low-level entrance on Argyle Street or the high-level entrance on Hope Street. Extra ScotRail staff will be available throughout the day to help direct customers.
After the match, fans should return to Mount Florida station and join the queue on Bolton Drive, which is accessed via Cathkinview Terrace.
ScotRail is also advising supporters to buy return tickets to Mount Florida in advance as mTickets through the ScotRail app, to make journeys quicker and easier on the day.
Phil Campbell, ScotRail Customer Operations Director, said:
“ScotRail is looking forward to helping supporters travel to Hampden as the men’s national team continue preparations for this summer’s World Cup. We’ll be providing extra services and additional seats to help fans get to and from the match and travelling by train remains one of the easiest ways to reach the stadium. We’d encourage customers to plan ahead, check their journey before travelling, and allow a little extra time as there will be queuing systems in place before and after the game. Our staff will be on hand throughout the day to help, and buying return tickets in advance on the ScotRail app will make your journeys even smoother.”
