TPE Backs Malton in Bloom With Fresh £5,000 Biodiversity Boost
TransPennine Express has committed a further £5,000 to support community-led efforts to enhance biodiversity at Malton railway station and surrounding areas, reinforcing its backing for volunteers working to improve the local environment. The funding will allow floral displays and green spaces created over the past year to be expanded and developed further.
Malton in Bloom volunteers have already reshaped the station’s appearance through seasonal planting, colourful borders and schemes designed to support pollinators. Their work has turned the station into a prominent green space for both passengers and the wider community.
The latest contribution builds on a £5,000 donation made last year and will fund additional planting projects, new wildlife habitats and further landscaped areas. The aim is to encourage bees, butterflies and other important species throughout the year, while continuing to improve the visual appeal of the station and nearby locations.
The funding has been provided through TransPennine Express’s Customer and Community Improvement Fund, which supports initiatives centred on sustainability, stronger community links and improved accessibility across the network.
Andrew Watkins, Community and Development Manager at TransPennine Express, said:
“We’re delighted to continue our partnership with Malton in Bloom and support their dedication to improving the local environment. At TPE, we’re committed to building a more sustainable railway, and projects like this showcase what can be achieved when communities and transport services work together.”
Gail Cook, Clerk at Malton Town Council, said:
“We’re incredibly grateful to TransPennine Express for their continued support. This funding will enable Malton in Bloom to extend their fantastic work and ensure that Malton station and our town continue to flourish with vibrant displays and biodiversity that everyone can enjoy.”
