A woman was taken to a hospital early Sunday after being hit by a train near Olmos Park. Authorities reported the incident occurred at approximately 12:05 a.m. close to the intersection of McCullough Avenue and Oran Avenue.

San Antonio Police Department officials said the train’s conductor observed a 26-year-old woman step onto the tracks and face the oncoming train with her arms outstretched. Initially, the conductor assumed she would move out of the way.

Investigators explained that the woman then turned away from the train while keeping her arms extended, leading the conductor to suspect she might be trying to harm herself. Efforts to stop the train were unsuccessful, and the vehicle struck the woman at a speed under 20 miles per hour.

Following the impact, the woman fell beneath the train and was promptly transported to a nearby hospital to receive medical attention. Police continue to review the circumstances surrounding the incident.
