This Driver’s eye view begins with a rare look at the former Weymouth quay street-running tramway, filmed from a class 73 Electro-Diesel Locomotive. The line has now been removed, making this footage a unique record of one of Britain’s last street tramway sections. From there, a class 442 Wessex electric in Network SouthEast livery takes over for the main journey out of Weymouth, climbing towards Dorchester South and drawing fully on the power of the third rail.

Heading east, the train calls at the intermediate stations en route to Poole and Bournemouth, with their classic causeway approaches offering glimpses of the surrounding scenery. The route then continues through Brockenhurst, providing a connection to the Lymington branch, before passing through the unspoilt landscapes of the New Forest.

From Southampton, the service runs non-stop at speeds of up to 100 mph along the former LSWR quadruple track main line. The journey passes through Basingstoke, Woking, and Clapham Junction, combining high-speed mainline running with glimpses of historic railway architecture and signalling.

Finally, the train reaches London Waterloo, completing the picturesque and varied route from the Dorset coast to the capital. The video captures multiple perspectives, with footage from the driver’s cab highlighting the full range of operational and scenic features along the line.
