Assault on Officers Near Five Ways Station Leads to Teen Arrest

A teenage girl has been arrested following an incident in which three police officers were assaulted near a Birmingham railway station.

Safer Travel Police confirmed the incident took place close to Five Ways station on Saturday, January 24. Officers had been called to the area after concerns were raised for the welfare of a girl.

During the response, three officers were attacked. A 16-year-old girl was subsequently arrested on suspicion of assault. Police have confirmed she has since been released on bail while enquiries continue.

Safer Travel Police issued a statement about the incident on social media.

Posting on X, Safer Travel Police said:

“A teenager was arrested after three of our officers were assaulted near Five Ways in Birmingham on Saturday afternoon (24 January). It came after they responded to concerns for the welfare of a girl. A 16-year-old girl was arrested on suspicion of assault. She has since been released on bail while enquiries continue. Our officers are here to help others, and violence against them is not acceptable.”
