BNSF Breaks Ground on Huge North Texas Logistics Center
Construction has officially begun on a major new rail-served industrial development in North Texas after BNSF Railway and local officials gathered to mark the project’s groundbreaking.
Leaders from the City of Gunter, including Mayor Karen Souther, joined representatives from BNSF Railway, Grayson County Judge Bruce Dawsey and other community partners to celebrate the start of work on the Logistics Center North Dallas. The ceremony signalled the beginning of construction on a large logistics and industrial hub designed to support regional economic growth.
The development will cover around 944 acres and will operate as a multi-customer, multi-commodity industrial park. Located roughly an hour north of Dallas and around 30 minutes from Frisco, the site is positioned close to State Highway 289 and will offer direct rail connections aimed at strengthening supply chains across North Texas.
Officials say the facility is designed to help businesses move more quickly when establishing operations, potentially reducing development timelines by between nine and 12 months. The logistics center will provide ready-to-build space with rail access for a variety of industries.
Scot Bates, BNSF Assistant Vice President of Economic Development and Real Estate, said:
“Gunter is well-placed in one of the fastest-growing corridors in the country, and this new logistics center positions our customers to take full advantage of that momentum. By offering direct rail service and a ready-to-build site, we’re helping customers expand their supply chain reach faster and more efficiently.”
Gunter Mayor Karen Souther said:
“This groundbreaking represents an important step for Gunter’s future. Getting here required hard conversations, meaningful collaboration, and a commitment from everyone involved to find a path that will protect our community while creating opportunities. I am so proud of where we are today and of the partnership that helped make it possible.”
