CCTV Image Released After Double Sexual Assault at Wanstead Station

Police have issued an image of a man they wish to identify as part of an ongoing investigation into a sexual assault at Wanstead Underground station.

The incident took place at around 6.30am on Wednesday 11 February, when a man approached a woman at the station and made sexually inappropriate remarks. The situation escalated when he then sexually assaulted her.

Officers believe the same individual went on to target a second woman at the station shortly afterwards, subjecting her to a further sexual assault.

British Transport Police has released an image of a man they believe may be able to assist with enquiries. Detectives are also keen to speak to a woman thought to have witnessed the incidents, as well as anyone else who may have seen what happened.

Anyone who recognises the man is urged to contact police by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 73 of 11 February. Information can also be provided anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
