Delays hit Gatwick and London services after Crawley signal fault
A signalling fault at Crawley is causing delays for trains heading towards London, with services between Horsham and Three Bridges running at reduced speeds. Network Rail engineers are on site working to fix the problem, with disruption expected until at least 14:00.
The issue requires trains to be “talked past” signals by the signaller. Drivers must stop at red signals and receive verbal permission to proceed at a slower speed, which can lead to significant delays, particularly along long stretches of track.
Passengers can expect delays of five to ten minutes in the Crawley area, affecting services towards Three Bridges, Gatwick Airport, East Croydon, and London. Rail operators are advising travellers to allow extra time for journeys until the signalling system is fully restored.
