Hitchin Overhead Wire Damage Causes Delays On Peterborough And Cambridge Routes

Hitchin To Cambridge Trains Halted After Overhead Wire Damage

Passengers travelling through the Hitchin area are facing disruption after damage to the overhead wires left some lines blocked.

The damage means there is no electricity for trains through the affected section, with services currently unable to run through the area until further notice.

Trains running between Stevenage and Peterborough / Cambridge may be revised or delayed by up to 35 minutes while the problem is dealt with.

LNER has arranged extensive ticket acceptance with multiple operators across a number of routes to help passengers continue their journeys.

Great Northern and Thameslink have warned passengers travelling southbound towards London that their journeys will be delayed, and that they may need to use an alternative route to complete their trip. Alternative transport arrangements are also being made.

Passengers are being advised to check before travelling using the National Rail Enquiries real-time Journey Planner.

Disruption is expected to continue until 20:30.
