Lumo launches recruitment drive ahead of new London–Stirling rail services

Lumo has announced a series of new recruitment opportunities as the open access operator prepares to launch its daily services between London Euston and Stirling. The expansion will increase travel options between Scotland and England, with up to ten services operating Monday to Saturday and eight on Sundays. The operator, known for its affordability and reliability, says the new route will significantly enhance connectivity for customers on both sides of the border.

As part of the growth, Lumo is seeking Qualified Customer Drivers who are committed to delivering a safe, healthy and sustainable travel experience. It is also recruiting four Customer Experience Team Managers based in Preston, London Euston and Stirling, with a focus on ensuring high standards of service onboard. These roles come as Lumo, which currently operates fully electric services between Edinburgh, Newcastle and London, prepares to extend services to and from Glasgow later this year.

Lindsay Gauntlett, People and Culture Manager at Lumo, said: “We’re thrilled to launch this rare opportunity to join the wider Lumo team, as part of our brand new service connecting London Euston and Stirling. This is a chance to be part of an organisation that’s passionate about supporting the customers and communities we serve. We’re proud to champion inclusivity and encourage new talent to consider joining the industry. As of last year, 95% of our operational workforce had been part of our apprentice programme in partnership with Train’d Up. During the past three years, 29 women have completed the training compared to 27 men.”

The operator recently achieved the Clear Assured Bronze Standard, recognising its commitment to inclusivity and diversity. Customer Driver positions are being advertised with a salary of £71,529, while Customer Experience Team Manager roles will offer £49,472.
