Man charged after drugs and baton found during Moor Street station arrest
A man has been charged with a series of drug and weapons offences after police stopped him as he attempted to board a train at Moor Street train station in Birmingham.
West Midlands Police said officers from its Operation Fearless team detained Chee Wai Chong at the station on Thursday. During the stop, officers recovered a large quantity of methamphetamine. Further enquiries led police to search an address in Rowley Regis, where additional items were discovered.
The subsequent search uncovered more methamphetamine along with cannabis and a baton, police said. Chong, who is 46, was arrested at the scene and later formally charged in connection with the findings.
According to the force, Chong has been charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to supply, possession of cannabis with intent to supply, and possession of a baton. He is from Hackett Road in Rowley Regis.
West Midlands Police confirmed that Chong appeared before Birmingham Magistrates Court on Saturday. He was remanded in custody and is due to appear next at Birmingham Crown Court on March 2.

"We’ve charged a man with drugs and weapons offences after Operation Fearless officers stopped him as he boarded a train in Birmingham. Chee Wai Chong, aged 46, was detained at Moor Street station on Thursday and a large amount of methamphetamine was recovered. We worked with the Sandwell Police priority crime team and Serious Organised Crime & Exploitation (SOCEX) team and carried out further searches at an address in Rowley Regis, where more methamphetamine was discovered, along with cannabis and a baton. Chong has now been charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to supply, possession of cannabis with intent to supply, and possession of a baton in a private place. He appeared before Birmingham magistrates on Saturday, and was remanded in custody to appear before the city’s crown court on March 2."
