Northern Passengers Warned As Northumberland Line Disruption Blocks All Lines

Northern passengers travelling on the Newcastle to Ashington route are being warned of disruption after a signalling fault blocked the line between Bedlington and Ashington.

The fault means all lines between the two stations are currently blocked, with services unable to run normally through the affected section.

Trains on the route may be cancelled while the issue is investigated and resolved.

Northern train ticket restrictions have been lifted in the affected areas, including Advance and Peak restrictions, during this disruption. Restrictions will be reinstated once the disruption ends. Availability checks are being made for transport to operate between Bedlington and Ashington.

Passengers are being advised to check their journeys before travelling using the National Rail Enquiries real-time Journey Planner.

Disruption is currently expected to continue until 6pm.
