Pedestrian Taken To Hospital After Taxi Collision Outside Durham Train Station
A pedestrian has been taken to hospital after being hit by a taxi outside Durham Train Station.
Emergency services were called to Station Approach shortly after 1pm today, Monday 8 June, following the collision.
Drivers were asked to avoid the area while 999 crews dealt with the incident.
Rail services were not affected, and pedestrians were still able to access the station as normal.
The North East Ambulance Service confirmed that one person was taken to Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary for further treatment.
A NEAS spokesperson said:
"We were called to an incident outside of Durham Train Station on Monday 8 June shortly after 1pm. We dispatched one ambulance crew and one patient was taken to RVI for further treatment."
Durham Constabulary also confirmed officers were dealing with the collision involving a taxi and a pedestrian outside the station.
A spokesperson for Durham Constabulary said:
"We are currently dealing with a road traffic collision at Durham Train Station involving a taxi and a pedestrian. Trains are still running as usual but drivers are asked to avoid Station Approach while emergency services are in attendance. Pedestrians can still access the station as normal."
