Springburn Rail Incident Leaves Person With Life-Changing Injuries

A railway line has reopened after an emergency incident caused disruption to ScotRail services on Monday morning.

Trains between Glasgow Queen Street and Falkirk Grahamston were disrupted for several hours while emergency services attended an incident on the route.

ScotRail said services had returned to normal by around 9am.

The Scottish Fire & Rescue Service said it was notified by British Transport Police about an incident between Springburn and Robroyston at 6.53am.

Three fire appliances were sent to the scene.

British Transport Police later confirmed that a person had been taken to hospital with life-changing injuries.

The incident is not being treated as suspicious.

A British Transport Police spokesperson said:

“We were called to an area of the line in Springburn at around 7.45am this morning following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Officers attended along with paramedics and a person was taken to hospital with life-changing injuries.”
