Police Release CCTV After Woman Assaulted at York Station

British Transport Police have released a CCTV image as part of an investigation into an assault at York railway station and are appealing for help to identify a woman they believe may have information.

The incident happened at around 10.15am on Saturday 31 January. Officers say the victim had just exited the station toilets when she was pushed by another woman, causing her to fall backwards and strike her head against a wall. The victim sustained a head injury and required hospital treatment.

Investigators believe the woman shown in the CCTV image could assist with enquiries into what happened. Police have said she is believed to have travelled to York from Newcastle.

Anyone who recognises the woman, or who has information that could help the investigation, is asked to contact British Transport Police by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 183 of 31 January. Information can also be provided anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
