Power Outage Chaos: London and Midlands Rail Services Hit with Major Disruption

A widespread power outage earlier today had left parts of the rail network across London and the Midlands facing ongoing disruption, with services only now beginning to recover.

The issue has been linked to a nationwide power fluctuation involving National Grid, which caused electric trains on several routes to lose traction power. Although trains are now moving again, operators have warned that the knock-on effects are likely to continue for some time.

Passengers travelling across affected areas are being told to expect cancellations, delays of up to 60 minutes, and altered services as the network stabilises.

Dirsuption outside of the capital has now subsided somewhat and is mainly confined to the following operators:

  • Elizabeth line

  • Greater Anglia / Stansted Express

Travellers are strongly advised to check before they travel, as disruption may still be severe across multiple routes.
