Reading–Wokingham Line Closed After Person Struck by Train

Rail services between Reading and Wokingham were severely disrupted earlier after a person was struck by a train, though the incident has now been dealt with by emergency services.

All lines in the area had been closed while teams responded, bringing trains to an immediate stand. Services were unable to run between the two stations, with widespread cancellations and alterations across the route.

Although the line has since reopened, disruption is continuing as services recover. Trains may still be subject to delays, with some journeys taking longer than usual and others only operating on part of their normal routes.

Both Great Western Railway and South Western Railway revised timetables during the incident and put ticket acceptance in place to help passengers complete their journeys. Travellers are still advised to check before setting off, as services continue to stabilise.

Passengers using the route are being encouraged to allow additional time for their journeys and to stay updated via station screens and onboard announcements.

Residual disruption is expected to continue until around 16:00.
