Stirling–Alloa Line Reopens Following Early Morning Fatality
Rail passengers travelling between Stirling and Alloa faced significant disruption this morning after a person was found dead on the railway near Cambus. Emergency services were alerted shortly before 8am to reports of a casualty on the tracks.
Police, fire crews and paramedics attended the scene, where the individual was pronounced dead. The circumstances surrounding the incident are not being treated as suspicious.
British Transport Police said:
"Officers were called to a report of a casualty on the tracks just before 8am on today (13 February) near Cambus. Officers, fire and paramedics attended and sadly a person was pronounced deceased. The incident is not thought to be suspicious and a file will be prepared for the Procurator Fiscal."
In the immediate aftermath, all rail services between Stirling and Alloa were suspended, with no trains able to pass through stations along the affected stretch. ScotRail confirmed that the closure also led to disruption for services operating between Glasgow Queen Street and Alloa.
By around 11am, the line had reopened and services began returning to normal, with trains between Glasgow Queen Street and Alloa no longer affected.
